Who Pays for Your Rental Car When You Have Been in an Accident?
Hampden Auto Body is often asked by customers about who pays for their rental car?
Your insurance policy may include rental coverage. This will vary by policy. If you are a Claimant against another carrier, they are responsible for another form of transportation while your vehicle is being repaired. They owe for a comparable vehicle if it is used for work purposes or if you require additional seating for passengers (i.e. kids). Rental car agreements do get extended when and if additional damage is found, or there are circumstances that require additional day(s) to repair your vehicle.
Hampden Auto Body can contact the rental agency and arrange a replacement car for you when you drop off your vehicle for repairs.
Hampden Auto Body recommends you review your policy annually with your insurance agent. Most insured drivers do not stop to think about their auto insurance coverage until after an accident. Following the stress and anxiety of a car accident, nobody wants to be surprised by finding out their insurance policy may not cover costly expenses. For example, don’t wait until after an accident to find out that your policy doesn’t automatically cover costs for towing or a replacement rental car. Generally, this coverage may only be a couple extra dollars each month. Check your policy for specifics. When drivers understand their auto insurance policies it can save them time, money and frustration.
