Children's Car Seat Safety Tips

At Hampden Auto Body, we are passionate about safety.  That is why we wanted to provide some information on children’s car seats.  Statistics show that many children are in the wrong car seat and/or their seat is installed incorrectly.  The best way to protect children in the car is to place children in age and size appropriate car seats and booster seats.

There are so many car seat types and models, how do you know which one is right for your child? The right car seat or booster fits your child and your car.  For more information about children car seats and boosters, installation tips and instructional videos visit: http://www.safercar.gov/parents/CarSeats.htm

Other helpful resources regarding child car seat safety:

Inspection Stations:

There are more than 140 “inspection stations” across the state.  Most Inspection Stations offer free assistance for parents, providing invaluable car seat checks to ensure proper seat installation. To find a Child Car Seat Inspection Station closest to you visit: www.seatcheck.org.

For example the closest station to Hampden Auto Body is the Englewood Fire Department at 3615 South Elati Street.

Colorado Child Passenger Safety Laws:

Less than 1 year old (and 20 lbs.) must be in a rear facing infant seat in rear seat if available.  1-3 years old (and 20-40 lbs.) must be in child safety seat and 4-7 year olds in a booster seat.  8-15 year olds in an adult safety belt is permissible.  They also recommend that all children under 13 should ride in the back seat.
